World Record for 28 Hours Non Stop Jokes Telling India

Nanduri Prabhakar, an employee of BSNL here, broke the Guinness Book of World Records by telling jokes continuously for 28 hours. He started the feat at 12.24 p.m. on Sunday and went on with the act till 4 p.m. on Monday.

The 28-hour long effort has been video-recorded and the video recording along with the observers’ records and other documents would be sent to the Guinness Book of World Record authorities. Mr. Prabhakar took a break of five minutes for every hour, which was the time allowed by the Guinness Book of World Records authorities. The existing Guinness Book of record of 24 hours is in the name of Mike Hessman of Ohio (US) who has done the feat on November 16 and 17, 1992.

Mr. Prabhakar told nearly 1,600 jokes during the marathon feat. The strain was apparent but an elated Mr. Prabhakar said he would try to improve his record further. Incidentally he created a Limca Book of Records two years ago by telling jokes continuously for 30 hours, taking a break of 10 minutes for every hour.

People who visited Kala Bharathi to witness Mr. Prabhakar’s feat donated money to Sishu Vikas, a school being run for the children of poor families. The Visakha Humour Club organised the programme under the name of Hasyarasa Dhaaaramrutam. The BSNL, the Vijay Nirman Company and Apex Hospitals supported the programme. General Manager of BSNL P. Nagaraju, MD of Vijay Nirman Vijay Kumar and AS Raja and others were present to congratulate Mr. Prabhakar when he concluded his performance.
